Mac: Problem with fonts? No Problem with fonts!

If you are having problems with your fonts in any application in Mac OS X, then use this wonderful application called Font Nuke. It cleans all the font cache files and forces the application to reset the fonts to their default mode. It helped me fix my FireFox font problem (especially with Unicode enabled fonts after I installed 10.4.9 update).

Tips: MS Entourage

I just found an interesting trick in Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac OS X: In the preview section or while reading your emails, you can select the portion of the original message before clicking on "Reply", "Reply to All", or "Forward" to ONLY include that section in the reply or the forwarded message!

For example, imagine that I have received an email from a friend that has some private message as well as her address for the party that night. I want to forward just her address to my other friend who is also invited. What I used to do is to click on "Forward" and delete the extra parts of the email from the original included email. I just found that it's much easier to just select the address part and then click "Forward". This way only the selected part will be included.

It may also work on Outlook. I haven't tried it yet though.

Mac OS 10.4.9

I installed Mac OS 10.4.9 and now I cannot use Safari to read some of the Farsi web pages! Apparently the new OS has replaced the previous system fonts with new ones, and the new fonts (I assume the sans-serif family) are buggy when they come to
displaying Farsi texts (the characters are separated.)

The interesting thing is that FireFox still works fine, which makes me think that FireFox has a separate font library, but I couldn't find any in the package or in /Library. Does anybody know what the heck is happening?

----
Updated Thursday: At last I found a solution to the problem; I went to the Font Book and disabled all duplicate fonts in the User font library. Thanks David.

Connect your Mac to XBOX 360

If you have a Mac and an XBOX 360 (yes it is possible; if you hate Sony more than Microsoft!) and you want to share your music, photos and videos with your game console, you can use Connect 360. It's a Mac-friendly, simple, and efficient program and it's well worth the cost ($20).

Let me just add that I'm starting to like XBOX 360 for the first time, and I still hate Sony!
