Hotel Review: Town and Country

Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center
500 Hotel Cir N.
San Diego, CA

Told Ya Rating: 3 out of 5
Told Ya Tagline: Very good if somebody else is paying!

Pros: Very nice resort. I liked the area very much. Good facilities like pool and Jacuzzi although I never used them (don't forget your swimsuit!) Excellent environment for having a conference, relaxing, having fun. Nice room (in the tower). Registration was quick and easy. Checkout was quick too. Close to I-8, I-5. Close to the airport. Walking distance to a very good mall "Fashion Valley" and a train station.

Cons: Too greedy! I don't like these hotels that charge for everything. They are trying to make money off of everything you can imagine. No fridge in the room and no coffee maker. No breakfast. There was a bottle of water in your room for $2.5 plus applicable taxes. Your only option for morning coffee or tea is to buy it from the cafeteria. They charge for parking. They also charge for internet access "per computer" and not per room. Internet only available at the hotel area and not the convention center. Cleaning ladies skipped our room twice and then they came to clean it on the checkout day! A light bulb was out and they never changed despite several calls to the front desk. When asked for a night kit (my friend's luggage got lost and he needed a tooth brush) they said they were going to bring it to the room but never showed up.

Tips: If you are alone, use the XPRESS Shuttle San Diego. If you are a party of two or more, simply take a cab. It's worth it and the difference is not that much, if any. We paid 2 x $10 + $4 tip = $24 for the shuttle coming from the airport and paid $15 + $2 tip = $17 for a cab going to the airport!

Farhad and Hillary

Farhad seems to be too much into Hillary's campaign for presidency. Personally I don't have a good feeling about this woman. Many people believe that it's about time we chose a woman for the office of presidency and I absolutely agree with that, but that doesn't mean we HAVE TO choose a woman right now! Just because Hillary is a woman doesn't make her eligible to be the best candidate for that office. I don't like people who do anything to become a public office holder and Hillary seems to be such a person. Another example is McCain who is recently doing his best to appeal to the religious conservatives of this country. At least with Pat Robertson, you knew you were dealing with a simple crap! With McCains and Hillarys, Americans might get a sophisticate chocolate covered turd shake.

On the other hand, I really like Obama for his charisma, and Edwards for his positivity throughout his 2004 campaign. I think these two are better options for presidency. Hopefully these two know how to pull out of Iraq (and by the time Iran) and restore America's respect in the world.

Hillary said

On the Senate floor yesterday, Hillary said that President Bush will not be allowed to use force against Iran without the explicit authorization of Congress. With Bush shunning diplomacy and engaging in reckless posturing, she said, it is time for Congress to step up and take a strong oversight role.

Here is what Hillary said:

President Bush must not be allowed to act without the authority and oversight of Congress. It would be a mistake of historical proportion if the Administration thought that the 2002 resolution authorizing force against Iraq was a blank check for the use of force against Iran without further Congressional authorization. Nor should the President think that the 2001 resolution authorizing force after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, in any way, authorizes force against Iran. If the Administration believes that any, any use of force against Iran is necessary, the President must come to Congress to seek that authority.

Politics

George W. Bush and Tony Blair are at a White House dinner. One of the guests walks over to them and asks what they're discussing.
"We are making up the plans for World War III", says Bush.
"Wow", says the guest. "And what are the plans?"
"We're gonna kill 2 billion Muslims and one dentist", answers Bush.
The guest looks to be a bit confused. "One...dentist?" He says."Why will you kill one dentist?"
Blair pats Bush on the shoulder and says, "What did I tell you? Nobody is gonna ask about the Muslims."
