Fet"US"

What is going to happen if (when) Roe vs Wade is overturned based on the theory that life begins at conception?

1- The moment the lucky sperm enters the egg, we have a human being. Just like the moment our neighbor's rooster jumps on the mother hen, we can barbecue the resulting egg and pretend that we are having a delicious "chicken" kabob there.

2- After the fusion of sperm and egg, the moment the first human cell is created, the cell should be eligible to have a US passport. The problem is when the very first cell divides into two identical cells. Should the government issue two separate passports for each cell?

3- If the conception is before December 31, is the fetus responsible for the partial income taxes of the previous year? Is he/she going to be penalized for not filing taxes before April 15?

4- If there is a draft in this country once again and 18-year-old kids living with their parents can stay only if they don't have any siblings, do they have to make sure daddy uses a condom every time? Is the government going to put biosensors in women's uteruses so the moment there is a conception, the other child is called to serve?

Happy New Persian Year!

For those who might not know, the Persian year officially begins on March 21, the first day of Spring, however we don't wait for the clock to show 12:00am or for the ball to fall! We wait for the exact time of the Spring Equinox. For this year, the exact time is 13:25:35 EST (18:25:35 UTC) on March 20.

Take a look at the page below. It's interesting to see how cultures are connected:

Poly-tics?

There used to be a time that governments at least "pretended" not to be hypocritical but nowadays it takes a week for Bush and Ahmadinejad to go from calling each other names to accepting to talk! It was only a couple of weeks ago that Dick Cheney took aim at Iran with-intent-to-shoot in front of the pro-Israel lobbying group, or only a couple of months ago when "Ahmadinejad-ians" were speaking of attacking the US interests in the region. And now while the congress is passing a bill to put more sanctions, they back talks with Iran. Iran's parliament and political parties - including some of the most prominent anti-America hardliners like Asgaroladi - support the talk. While Bush and Khamenei (the supreme leader) have given their blessings for a talk, some people in the US are still preparing to attack Iran next week, Iran has probably prepared its own version of "red button" for retaliation.

Welcome to the jungle
We got fun 'n' games
We got everything you want
Honey we know the names
We are the people that can find
Whatever you may need
If you got the money honey
We got your disease

...

Welcome to the jungle
It gets worse here everyday
Ya learn ta live like an animal
In the jungle where we play
If you got a hunger for what you see
You'll take it eventually
You can have anything you want
But you better not take it from me

Ethics

I'm taking an exam on Research Ethics now. It's a take home exam and is due on Friday. The questions are a little bit hard and tricky in a sense that for some of them there is no "2 plus 2 is equal to 4" solution. But what I like about it is that I had to go and read so many federal regulations about research that I didn't even have any clue they existed.

After reading the Animal Welfare Act, I realized how much effort has been taken by the animal rights advocates to put so many restrictions on the use of animals in the scientific research. If only one percent of these efforts were there to "enforce" the human rights in underdeveloped countries ...

Observation one: We kill rats wandering in big cities because they are dangerous to our health but we save some other rats to show how caring we are.

Observation two: We care more about a rat in the US than a human child in Darfur.

Conclusion: We suck!

Sweet home Alaba-York...

I used to live in Tehran, a metropolitan city in Iran for twenty four years before I came to the United States. I've been living in South for almost 5 years now, making me a culturally confused person.

Last week, I went to Manhattan for a few days. It was an amazing experience for a Big-city-dude-turned-Southerner like me. What was the most valuable lesson I learnt there? New York liberals are as obsessed with what they believe in as Southern conservatives are! I hate you both!!

Quote: A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned to walk forward. - FDR

Quote: Liberals are very broadminded: they are always willing to give careful consideration to both sides of the same side!

P.S.: I hate Southern conservatives more! :-)

What should I Google tonight?

People do Web Browsing for some unwanted information from some of the millions of the connected nodes, which they know nothing about, for a very un-known reason. Now, the question is how we can make money out of it?
